How do you make journeys interesting?

So the million dollar question. My game of Deadlands: hell on earth is going to revolve around getting to the City of Junkyard, and I really want to have the journey be something thrilling and dangerous, not washed over.

Any suggestion on how to do this and not make it repetitive?

What would you do?

  1. You can use a trap. Who put it there? Why is in the way?. Answer those questions is the players job.
    Anything you think will be fun.
